Emily Louise (Patterson) Brenner, age 50, of Fishers, IN, formerly of Northbrook, IL passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2015. She fought a valiant 11 year cancer battle with tenacity, resilience and an engaging sense of humor. She danced into the world on June 23, 1965, the adored youngest daughter of Robert W. Patterson and the late Bonnie Grace (Payne) Patterson. She challenged us to keep up with her ever since. Emily graduated Glenbrook North High School (Northbrook, IL) and went on to earn a Fine Arts/Dance degree from Butler University (Indianapolis) in 1987. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. It was there she met her soul-mate, Kirk Brenner and they were married in 1990. They recently celebrated their 25th Anniversary.

Throughout her life, Emily lived with zest and purpose. She was always a leader when called on to plan school or neighborhood activities and she was a tireless volunteer in the greater community. She was active with the Junior League of Indianapolis (honored as a 20 year member), and served as Membership Vice President. She created the Membership Outreach Committee and served as Chairman of the 85th Anniversary celebration and co-chair for Holiday Mart. She was integral in bringing the first Race for the Cure to Indianapolis. She was a member of the Indy SurviveOars, Indiana’s only breast cancer dragon boat team. Her professional life was varied and remarkable. She was a dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, a dance teacher at Park Tudor School, a choreographer, a teacher at a local day care center and a home stager. In recent years she started her own successful company, Stage-It.

Emily found the most joy in her extended family and legion of friends, old and new, near and far. She considered raising three wonderful sons, Noah, Zane and Kyle her greatest achievement. If you were lucky enough to be in Emily’s orbit, you knew the true definition of fun and love. “Love you more” was her mantra, and she truly lived every day as a celebration.
